Singing River Health System Celebrates National Nurses Day

In honor of the dedication and compassion of nursing professionals, Singing River Health System is celebrating National Nurses Day on May 6. National Nurses Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness of the important role nurses play in the community.

Singing River Health System is proud to have the most experienced nurses on the Gulf Coast, with approximately 12,000 years of experience. There are more than 100 certified nurses representing over 25 specialties throughout the health system. Nurse certification affirms advanced knowledge, skill and practice to meet the challenges of modern nursing.

Maya Angelou once said, “As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may not remember your name but they will never forget the way you made them feel.”

Health Thompson, Chief Nursing Officer for Singing River Health System and Administrator at Ocean Springs Hospital, firmly believes in this mantra,

“I think Maya said it well – nursing is a noble and rewarding profession with the ability to impact lives on a daily basis,” said Thompson. “Singing River Health System is proud to recognize and honor all of our nurses for all they do each day for our patients, families and the community. Nursing is the cornerstone of our health system.”
