Biography

Michael A. Turner, DO, a board-certified pediatrician, has spent years providing high quality pediatric care to children via his service in the United States Air Force.

Dr. Turner received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia and then continued his studies at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. Rounding out his education in pediatrics, Dr. Turner completed his Pediatric internship and residency at the University of South Dakota’s Sanford School of Medicine.

As a pediatrician in the United States Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS, Dr. Turner has served in many roles including Pediatrics Flight Commander, Inpatient Medical Director, Nursery Coordinator, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Director, and Medical Advisor for Child & Youth programs on base.

Dr. Turner is also well-acquainted with teaching and advocating for his patients. He has taught at several levels of medicine including teaching medical students and PA/NP students. He developed staff education programs to improve staff skills and increase medical readiness. 

Dr. Turner also worked with several drug companies to help Keesler Pediatrics become the first pediatric clinic in the United States Air Force to administer the life-saving medications vital for preventing RSV in infants. His service on medical oversight committees included Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Blood & Tissue Utilization Functional Committee, and Executive Command and Staff. 

Dr. Turner brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience to Signing River’s Pediatric team.
