Pulmonary Testing & Treatment

Pulmonary Function Testing

We provide comprehensive pulmonary function testing at Pulmonary Services at our Gulport, Ocean Springs, and Pascagoula locations. Lung function tests are noninvasive and show how well your lungs are working. The test measures lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange. Our team of pulmonary experts provides diagnostic tests to diagnose and treat lung diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and emphysema.

Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (COPD)

COPD is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, cough, mucus production, and wheezing. A pulmonary lung function test can diagnose and identify the stage of severity of COPD. Singing River provides a variety of treatment options for COPD, including the revolutionary Zephyr® Valve.

Zephyr Endobronchial Valve for Severe Emphysema & COPD

The Zephyr® Valve treatment is a new procedure offered to help patients with severe emphysema and COPD. During this procedure, the doctor places one or more small valves in your airways which release trapped pockets of air to improve your ability to breathe.

Complex Interstitial Lung Disease Treatment

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a term used to describe a group of conditions that cause scarring (pulmonary fibrosis) and/or inflammation in space between the air sacs of the distal lung, causing shortness of breath, chronic dry hacking cough, and decreased blood oxygen levels. Call us to learn more about getting an evaluation for ILD.

Bronchial Thermoplasty for Severe Asthma

Bronchial Thermoplasty is an outpatient procedure for patients with severe asthma. During the procedure, the smooth muscles that spasm during an attack are treated thermally to open up your airways. It has been shown to reduce asthma attacks for at least five years.

Bronchoscopy and Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy is procedure used by our pulmonologist to look at your lungs, airways, bronchi, and more. These procedures can be diagnostic as well as interventional, and we offer Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy, as well as the advanced bronchoscopy techniques endo-bronchial ultrasound and navigational bronchoscopy.

Lung Cancer Screening – Low Dose CT Scan

Low Dose CT Scans are commonly used to detect lung cancer. Experts recommend those who have a history of heavy smoking, currently smoke or have quit smoking within the past 15 years, and are between the ages of 55 and 80 years old be screened for lung cancer every year.
