Singing River Health System Physician Recognized by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine

Dr. Edgar Hull, Medical Director Singing River Health System Hospice of Light and Medical Oncologist at the Singing River Health System Cancer Center, has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine (FAAHPM), one of the highest honors the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine can bestow on a physician.

This honor is achieved by physicians whose professional activity is devoted to the practice of hospice and palliative medicine. Fellows of the Academy are required to be board certified, members of AAHPM for five consecutive years, and active within the Academy as demonstrated by attendance at annual assemblies.

These individuals request and voluntarily submit applications for fellow status, inviting an evaluation of their practice by their peers of their personal integrity, knowledge of the field, professional accomplishment, and demonstrated scholarship.

By demonstrating significant commitment to the field of hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Hull has earned the designation as Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (FAAHPM).

“Dr. Hull has been a leader on our Medical Staff for many years,” said Kevin Holland, Singing River Health System Chief Executive Officer. “This honor is well earned and much deserved, and speaks to how much Dr. Hull cares about supportive care and palliative medicine.”

Dr. Hull received his bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He performed his internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and completed a residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

Dr. Hull was a member of the Medical Staff of Charity Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans before joining the Singing River Health System Medical Staff in 1979. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hospice and palliative medicine.
