Hospice of Light Achieves Level Four Recognition as a We Honor Veterans Partner
Singing River Health System’s Hospice of Light is proud to announce it has received a Level 4 recognition from the We Honor Veterans (WHV) program, a national initiative that sets the standard for honoring and caring for America’s Veterans at the end of life.
This achievement reflects Hospice of Light’s deep commitment to meeting the unique needs of Veteran patients—not only clinically, but also emotionally, spiritually, and culturally. Hospice of Light’s dedication to honoring Veterans extends beyond the patients and families it serves, reaching into the broader community through education, outreach, and meaningful partnerships.
The We Honor Veterans program offers a structured framework to help hospice organizations better serve Veterans through five progressive levels of partnership. Each level includes specific activities and practical resources designed to strengthen an organization’s knowledge, capacity, and commitment to Veteran-centered care.
“At Hospice of Light, we are deeply honored to be a We Honor Veterans Partner, a partnership that holds us accountable to the highest standards of care for veterans in our community,” said Emily Dixon, WHV Program Lead and Hospice Social Worker. “Achieving Level 4 is a meaningful milestone that reflects our ongoing focus on staff training, community collaboration, and continuous evaluation of how we serve veterans and their families. We look forward to continuing this important work as we pursue the highest Level 5 designation.”
Hospices earn their stars by completing activities within each level of commitment. This system allows Veterans, families, and VA partners to easily identify hospices that have demonstrated a strong dedication to providing Veteran-specific care delivered by a competent and highly skilled workforce.
Hospice of Light will proudly display the 4-star WHV Partner logo across its website, outreach efforts, and educational material, signaling to the community its ongoing commitment to compassionate, individualized care for those who have served.
“Every Veteran has a story,” said Ashley Vitosky, Clinical Marketing Liaison for Hospice of Light. “This milestone confirms that Hospice of Light is listening, learning, and responding with intention. Together, we can ensure that no Veteran is forgotten, and no service goes unrecognized at the end of life.”
