Crisis Intervention Program
Are you or someone you know facing a mental health crisis? Singing River Health System is equipped to help through our Crisis Intervention Program (CIP).
What to Do in a Mental Health Crisis
We offer help for patients experiencing a number of acute issues, including:
- Psychosis
- Bipolar Disorder
- Schizophrenia
- Depression/Suicidal Thoughts
- Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease
- Behavioral Disturbances
Below are some steps to take in order to receive emergency behavioral and mental health services at Singing River Health System.
Step One
Come to the emergency department at either of our hospitals:
- Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula (Directions)
- Ocean Springs Hospital in Ocean Springs (Directions)
Step Two
When you arrive at the emergency room, request the Crisis Intervention Program. A specially trained RN or Master’s Level mental health professional will meet with the patient and family. They will collaborate with the patient’s care team and the hospital’s psychiatrist to determine how to best assist the patient.
Step Three
In some cases, the individual is given one-on-one assistance to work through the crisis, mobile support, and are linked to appropriate community resources.
In other cases, psychiatric hospitalization is necessary for crisis stabilization. If the patient needs hospitalization, a CIP team member will help the patient get admitted to the Inpatient program at Singing River Hospital while providing them with education and support.
