Singing River Health System Among the First Institutions in the Country to Use the Perceval Sutureless Valve for Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery
Singing River Health System announced today that it is one of the first institutions in the country to offer patients the new sutureless Perceval valve for aortic valve replacements (AVR). Perceval is a surgical biological valve designed with a self-anchoring frame, enabling surgeons to replace the native, diseased valve without the need for sutures.
“Aortic valve replacement is one of the most commonly performed procedures in the country, and we are constantly looking to find safer, more efficient ways to offer this therapy to our patients,” said Dr. Jason Williams, Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Singing River Health System. “The Perceval sutureless valve allows quicker and easier implantation without sacrificing precision or durability, all of which are beneficial for optimal patient outcomes.”
Engineered to restore natural valve performance, the Perceval valve features a super-elastic stent that is able to adapt to the movement of the aorta during the cardiac cycle. Unlike other AVR options, its implantation method involves collapsing the valve prior to implantation to improve visibility for the surgeon during surgery. Perceval is designed for any patient who requires an AVR procedure, including complex cases.

The sutureless valve is also approved for use in Canada and Europe. To date, Perceval has been implanted in more than 20,000 patients in over 300 hospitals in 34 countries worldwide.
