Singing River Health System is proud to welcome Kids and Tummies, a trusted pediatric gastroenterology practice led by Dr. April Ulmer, into its growing network of care. With established locations in Gulfport and Ocean Springs, the partnership expands access to specialized digestive and nutritional care for children across the Gulf Coast.
Dr. Ulmer, widely known as “The Tummy Dr.,” has cared for children and families through Kids and Tummies for 8 years. She provides expert pediatric gastroenterology services in a compassionate, family-centered environment. Now, as part of Singing River, Kids and Tummies can serve even more families with the added resources and support of the health system.

A native Mississippian, Dr. Ulmer brings more than two decades of experience to her patients. She earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed postgraduate training at respected institutions along the East Coast, including Washington, D.C., Danville, Pennsylvania, and Buffalo, New York, before returning home to serve her community.
Dr. Ulmer is known for her common sense, real-world approach to treatment, treating each child as unique. Her role as a wife and mother of two daughters further inspires her philosophy of patient-centered care.
Through this partnership, Singing River continues its commitment to providing quality care close to home, ensuring families on the Coast have access to the specialty services they need without traveling far.
