CEO, Singing River Health System“With the addition of the da Vinci 5® system at Ocean Springs Hospital, we’ve expanded access to robotic-assisted surgery across the region. This milestone reflects our investment in innovation and our commitment to the communities we serve.”
Since the da Vinci 5® system was added at Ocean Springs Hospital in October 2025, robotic surgical volume has increased 27.8% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Pascagoula Hospital has also seen strong growth, with a 12.5% year-over-year increase in its first full quarter using the new system.
The technology has also improved efficiency, reducing case times by an average of 28 minutes compared to the da Vinci Xi system.
“These advancements allow us to perform complex procedures with greater precision and efficiency,” said Edward Dvorak, MD, a robotic surgeon at Singing River who has performed the highest number of da Vinci cases at Ocean Springs Hospital. “For patients, that often means smaller incisions, less pain, shorter hospital stays, and a quicker return to daily life.”
The da Vinci 5® system features more than 150 design enhancements, giving surgeons improved precision and control for minimally invasive procedures across weight loss, urology, gynecology, thoracic, and other general surgery specialties.
