Dr. Ramon Brown Reaches 1,000 Robotic-Assisted Surgical Cases at Singing River Health System

Singing River Health System is celebrating a significant milestone as Ramon Brown, MD, MBA, FACS, FASCRS, board-certified colon and rectal surgeon, has successfully performed his 1,000th robotic-assisted surgical procedure using the da Vinci® Surgical System.

The achievement reflects years of dedication to advancing minimally invasive surgery and expanding access to highly specialized colorectal care. Brown is among the region’s most experienced robotic colorectal surgeons, using advanced technology to treat complex conditions of the colon and rectum.

In addition to reaching this milestone, Brown leads Mississippi’s only nationally accredited Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC) through the American College of Surgeons. The accreditation recognizes programs that meet rigorous national standards for rectal cancer care through a multidisciplinary, evidence-based treatment approach focused on improving patient outcomes.

“This milestone is a testament to Dr. Brown’s skill and unwavering commitment to delivering the highest quality surgical care. His leadership has strengthened our robotic surgery program and has made a lasting difference in the lives of patients and families across the Gulf Coast.”
Laurin St. Pé, CEO, Singing River Health System

Singing River continues to invest in cutting-edge surgical technology to ensure patients have access to the latest treatment options without leaving the region. As the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s only Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery, the health system offers robotic-assisted procedures across multiple specialties, providing advanced surgical care backed by experienced physicians and highly trained surgical teams.

For Brown, however, the milestone is less about the number and more about the future of patient care.

“Robotic technology continues to evolve, allowing us to perform increasingly complex procedures with greater precision. I’m excited about what’s ahead and grateful to continue serving our community with the most advanced surgical options available.”
