Biography
Debra LaPrad, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist, with an emphasis in oculoplastics or “eye plastics.” She practices general ophthalmology and is a partner in Eye Associates of the South.
As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, she performs a wide variety of services – from routine annual eye exams to diabetic exams, from correcting eyelid disorders to treating glaucoma. She treats both adult and pediatric patients, including entire families.
Eye surgeries Dr. LaPrad performs include lesion removals, glaucoma, plastics, lid surgeries, and cataracts. She performs medical Botox treatments, usually to treat spasms. She also manages some surgeries, pre-op or post-op, for other ophthalmologists.
An Alabama native, Dr. LaPrad completed her Residency in Ophthalmology at Louisiana State University and the Ochsner Program in New Orleans. She earned her medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham and took her internship in Preliminary Medicine at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.
She earlier earned a Bachelor of Science Degree n Biology, graduating magna cum laude at Troy State University.
Dr. LaPrad is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of various medical societies that include the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery. She is licensed to practice in the State of Mississippi.
Her medical presentations include “Long Term Safety of Botox.”
Dr. LaPrad is a member of the Ocean Springs Rotary Club. She and her husband live with their three children in Ocean Springs.
