Biography
Dr. Nicholas Carbajal is a dedicated nephrologist with Nephrology Associates of the Gulf Coast, serving patients in Ocean Springs and Pascagoula. Dr. Carbajal’s clinical and research interests in nephrology have been shaped by his extensive training and scholarly activities throughout his career.
Dr. Carbajal’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Orleans, graduating summa cum laude in 2013. He then pursued his Medical Doctorate at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, earning his MD in 2018. Following this, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Nephrology Fellowship at Ochsner Medical Center. His educational and professional credentials are further supported by certifications including Advanced Cardiac Life Support and board certification in Internal Medicine.
His research work reflects a strong commitment to advancing nephrology. Notable contributions include journal club presentations on pivotal clinical trials related to IgA nephropathy, chronic kidney disease, and kidney stone prevention. Additionally, his case report on severe hypothyroidism leading to acute kidney injury was accepted for presentation at the American Society of Nephrology’s annual meeting. His residency work also includes a significant manuscript on renal manifestations of hepatitis E, emphasizing his broad research engagement.
