Okechukwu Ekenna, MD

Dr. Ekenna was born and raised in Nigeria. He completed medical school in Germany, and eventually came to the United States to study infectious diseases. He became a member of the Singing River Health System Medical Staff in 1994, and has been an important part of the Jackson County medical community ever since.

Extremely experienced and a wealth of knowledge in his field, author of Cases in Clinical Infectious Disease Practice​. Dr. Ekenna played a vital role in Singing River’s successful response to the COVID-19 outbreak especially in caring for hospitalized patients, and assisted in the formation of the contact tracing team of positive patient navigators who helped slow the spread in hot spot areas in our community.
