Singing River Health System Celebrates 400th WATCHMAN™ Implant Procedure

Singing River Health System is proud to announce a significant milestone in cardiac care: the successful completion of its 400th WATCHMAN FLX™ Pro device procedure. This achievement underscores the structural heart team’s long-standing commitment to providing cutting-edge cardiovascular care to its community.

About the WATCHMAN

The WATCHMAN device is designed to reduce the risk of stroke by sealing off the left atrial appendage where blood clots commonly form for patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib) and serves as a revolutionary alternative to patients on blood thinners.

Since introducing the WATCHMAN procedure in 2019, the structural heart team at Singing River has been at the forefront of adopting advanced cardiac technologies and minimally invasive procedures to improve patient outcomes.

“We are thrilled to reach this milestone and offer our patients a life-changing treatment option that is only available in a hospital setting. Building upon the well-established WATCHMAN technology, the WATCHMAN FLX™ Pro device is the latest-generation device that will allow us to treat a broader range of patients thanks to the expanded size matrix.”

Dr. Ediz Z. Tasan, MD, MBA, FACC, FSCAI

Interventional Cardiologist & Director of Structural Heart Program at Singing River Health System

“This milestone is a testament to Singing River and the team’s dedication and expertise in advancing heart care. Our commitment to adopting innovative technologies like the WATCHMAN FLX™ Pro device reflects our mission to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.”

Join the Celebration

To celebrate this milestone, Singing River will host a celebration on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Ocean Spring Hospital. The event will include remarks by the cardiac care team and a WATCHMAN Implant representative, highlighting our impact in stroke prevention.

If you have atrial fibrillation that is not caused by a heart valve condition, the WATCHMAN device may help reduce your risk of stroke need for blood thinners.
