Frequently Asked Questions

When my doctor recommends therapy, do I have a choice on where to go?

Yes, you may request to receive therapy at a specific clinic or with a specific therapist. Sometimes your doctor will have recommendations on where to go for specific treatments.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

You will be asked to fill out some paperwork so that we may get a full picture of your diagnosis and patient history.

Then, your therapist will do a full evaluation that may include measurements and diagnostic testing. This appointment may also include modalities (ice, heat, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, etc.) Your therapist will then discuss with you the course of action for your specific treatment.

When should I arrive?

If it is your first appointment, you should arrive 15 minutes early in order to complete the first-time paperwork.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable clothes that are not restrictive and allow for freedom of movement. Tennis shoes are preferred for footwear. If you are coming in for a running analysis, please wear or bring your current running shoes.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your current medication list, identification card, insurance card and any braces or orthotics you use.

How long will the appointment last?

Appointment times vary but typically take about an hour.

How many times do I need to come in?

This will vary, but your therapist will determine this at the evaluation. The average is typically two to three times per week.

I have a problem with transportation. Is there assistance for that?

Yes, Singing River Health System offers transportation for those in need of this service in Jackson County. For more information, contact (228) 809-5088.
