Hugo Quintana, MD, FACC, FSCAI

Interventional Cardiologist

Biography

Hugo Quintana, MD, FACC, FSCAI, has been advancing heart care on the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 2003. An accomplished interventional cardiologist, having performed over 15,000 procedures, Dr. Quintana has long served patients both through private practice, and as a key member of the cardiovascular team at Singing River Health System. His practice proudly continues as part of Singing River Cardiology, where he sees patients at 11 Doctor’s Drive in Ocean Springs and at the Singing River Cardiology Center adjacent to Pascagoula Hospital.

Throughout his career, Dr. Quintana has been instrumental in bringing the latest minimally invasive cardiac technologies to our community. As part of Singing River’s Structural Heart Program, he helped pioneer breakthrough treatments that restore heart function without the need for open-heart surgery. He was on the team that performed the first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) and the first MitraClip procedure on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He also contributed to launching the region’s first carotid stenting program in 2014, offering patients an innovative alternative to traditional surgery. Dr. Quintana has helped the team perform over 500 WATCHMAN procedures to reduce stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation.

Dr. Quintana works alongside a highly skilled team of interventional cardiologists and cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, ensuring that patients have access to the same advanced heart care found in larger metropolitan areas —right here at home.

Dr. Quintana is a graduate of the Escuela de Medicina, Universidad de Costa Rica. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine and Residency at East Tennessee State University, James H. Quillen College of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident.
