Singing River Health System Expands Cardiac Care Across the Coast – Becoming the Most Comprehensive Program in the Region

Singing River, in partnership with Ochsner Health, opens a new cardiac catheterization lab at Singing River Gulfport Hospital – the addition will provide the Gulfport community another option when seeking emergent cardiac care and make Singing River Health System the most comprehensive cardiology program in the region.

Singing River hospital locations in Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, and Gulfport ensure the ability to serve cardiovascular patients across the gulf coast and to diagnose and treat a wide range of cardiovascular conditions locally. The new cardiac catheterization lab in Gulfport and the recent expansion at Ocean Springs Hospital, including a Hybrid Operating Room, for more complex Structural Heart procedures, will help to meet the ever-growing need for innovative care.

At Singing River, we are always looking for innovative ways to expand services to fit the growing needs of our community. Our talented team of providers, nurses, and support staff are relentless about providing quality care to everyone we serve. Investing in a new cath lab will further enhance our ability to provide advanced treatment options close to home.”

Tiffany Murdock, RN, Singing River Gulfport Hospital Administrator and Executive Director of Surgical Services for Singing River Health System

Singing River offers a continuum of care at all three of its hospitals in Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, and now Gulfport for peripheral vascular and coronary disease. Patients are cared for by an interdisciplinary team that includes general cardiology, interventional cardiology, limb salvage, and amputation prevention.

The opening of the new cardiac cath lab at Singing River Gulfport is one of many investments Singing River Health System and strategic partner Oschner Health will make to expand high-quality care across the coast.

“Overall, the investment in the new cath lab in Gulfport, as well as upgrades and expansions at Pascagoula and Ocean Springs, ensures we can increase our capacity to efficiently provide care to our local communities while offering an exceptional experience for patients and their families.”

Brenda Real, Manager of Heart and Vascular Services for Singing River Health System

A cardiac catheterization lab is a procedural hospital suite where minimally invasive tests and procedures are performed to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. The procedures involve tiny, flexible tubes called catheters, which can be used as an alternative to surgery to access the heart and blood vessels. Devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators are also placed in patients in these suites.
