Singing River Health System hosts an annual Stroke Symposium that brings together healthcare professionals, stroke survivors, caretakers, and community members to learn about the latest advancements in stroke prevention and care.

About the Stroke Symposium
The purpose of the event is to enhance awareness to both the community and healthcare providers of the latest treatments available for the prevention and care of stroke patients. The event will consist of educational lecturers and materials on the latest advancements in stroke prevention and awareness. Educational lectures will be provided by physicians and other healthcare providers knowledgeable in the treatment and care of stroke patients.
Continuing Education
Continuing education in Nursing, Radiology, Therapy (OT, PT, SLP), Social Work, and Pharmacy will be available to those who attend the symposium. CME will also be provided. Symposium content is 6.5 hours. Some disciplines may offer less credit depending on approved content per the organization.

The room block will be reserved until the cut-off date, April 1, 2025 or until the room block has been filled, whichever comes first.

Linda Littlejohns

Linda Littlejohns is a neuro clinical specialist who worked at a trauma center in California before joining industry as a Global VP of Clinical Development. Linda currently practices as a neuro clinical nurse consultant since her retirement in 2014. She has published on numerous neuro topics, specifically anatomy, stroke, and TBI management and is an author and co-editor of the Core Curriculum for Neuroscience Nurses.

Randy Roth, MD
Chief Medical Officer, Singing RiverInpatient Stroke Care

Dr. Randy Roth is the Chief Medical Officer and the Medical Director of Inpatient Physician Services of Singing River Health System. Dr. Roth has more than 25 years of experience, dedicating most of his career to making an impact on the health of those living in Jackson County and surrounding areas. He is responsible for overseeing all of physician services, physician employment, medical staff credentialing, peer review, case management, risk management and infection control.
His true passion and pride is hospital medicine and the group of hospitalists he founded in 1999, Inpatient Physician services. Dr. Roth received his doctorate from The University of Alabama School of Medicine and holds a B.S. degree from Rhodes College. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX.

Mischelle Vining

Mischelle Vining, PT, DPT, CLT/UE has a doctor of physical therapy with almost 30 years’ experience. She spent 16.5 years working with stroke and brain injury survivors at Methodist Rehabilitation in Jackson, MS. For the last 15 years she has focused her talents on treating neuro, ortho, pre and post-surgical breast cancer patients. As the owner of The Breast Cancer Physical Therapy Clinic, LLC she has developed a specialty in treating all things related to the physical impairments related to breast cancer treatment.
Outside of rehabilitating patients through physical therapy, Mischelle, uses her creative talents as the owner of Hope Blooms Flower Farm and Floral Boutique. She uses her green thumb to grow flowers, distributes them through her CSA flower club, and even dries flowers to make flower art and preserve special flowers from funerals, weddings, and other occasions.

Cindy is a nurse entrepreneur of Nursing Brains, LLC, providing neuroscience nursing continuing education around the world. She is an Associate Professor at Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies at Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT. Cindy also works casually at Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Service Line as a Neuroscience Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Cindy is certified in neuroscience nursing as well as a clinical nurse specialist. She has spoken locally, regionally, nationally and internationally on various neuroscience nursing topics. She has conducted research and has published her work in several journals. She is an active member of many nursing organizations. She has over 40 years of nursing experience.

Heather Sudduth

Heather Sudduth is the Coordinator of Neuroscience Programs at Singing River Health System. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has received specialty certifications as a Certified Case Manager and Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist. As Coordinator of Neuroscience Programs, Heather was instrumental in the development of their stroke program.
She has over 18 years of experience in stroke program development, mentorship, and created the first Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center in Mississippi. Heather has received over $1 million in grant funding for community and healthcare providers’ education and is a national speaker on stroke and brain and spinal cord injury prevention. She is actively involved in numerous state and national organizations and enjoys volunteering in her community.

Bayley Sanders
OTR/LUtilizing the Stroke Rehab DREAM TEAM

Bayley Sanders is the Acute Care Rehab Manager for Singing River Health System, employed by Encore Rehabilitation. She received her Bachelor of Science in Human Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of South Alabama. In her role as the Acute Care Rehab Manager, Bayley has been instrumental in advancing occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), and speech-language pathology (SLP) services, particularly in stroke care. Her leadership has elevated the rehab team’s performance, ensuring exceptional patient outcomes.
Bayley was awarded Singing River Health System’s Stroke Team Member of the Quarter in February 2024, after being recognized by CVA DNV for a “noteworthy” performance. Bayley worked with EPIC to enhance and streamline CVA documentation and provided system wide education that exceeded DNV accreditation standards. These improvements were recognized by the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) and were most recently presented at the AANN Stroke Care Conference in Houston, TX. Beyond her professional achievements, Bayley is a lifetime member of the Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs, actively contributing to her community and making a meaningful impact.

Rosa serves as the Chair of the Ethics and Human Rights Committee for the Kentucky Nurses Association and Advisory Board Chair for Power Up Nursing.
