Cancer Center Chemo-Sabes
Apply to volunteer at a Singing River Cancer Center infusion room and support patients undergoing treatment.
About the Chemo-Sabes
The Chemo-Sabes are infusion room volunteers that support patients undergoing treatment at Singing River Cancer Center locations in Gulfport, Ocean Springs, and Pascagoula. Cancer survivors are encouraged to volunteer, but you do not need to be a cancer survivor to volunteer.


Chemo-Sabe Responsiblities
- Distribute snacks and beverages to patients upon request
- Distribute pillows and blankets to patients upon request
- Circulate around the room and offer assistance to patients
- Talk and listen to infusion patients
- Retrieve medications from the pharmacy
- Escort patients from the waiting room to the infusion room
- Assist patients to the restroom
- Disinfect chemo chairs between patients
- Answer phones as needed
- Assist nurses as requested
Chemo-Sabe Requirements
All Chemo-Sabes must:
- Exhibit the highest standards for customer service and commitment to their community
- Pass a criminal background check and drug screening
- Be in good physical health, able to walk extensively, able to push patients in wheelchairs (up to 300 lbs.), perform basic computer skills, etc.
- Be available at least eight hours per month
- Be willing to commit to at least one year of active service
- Be able to work independently
- Provide your own transportation
