Biography
Dr. Rolando S. Barnes is a Jackson State Tiger graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology before receiving his Medical Degree from Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in Kentucky.
He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, New York.
While in training, Dr. Barnes served as President of the Student National Medical Osteopathic Association (SOMA), addressing health disparities and advocating for better policies for patients in the communities it serves.
Dr. Barnes says he became a doctor to show the next generations that anything is possible; “There are a lot of other role models that we see first like NBA players and rappers, and a lot of kids believe they can be that, but they need other kinds of role models too, like engineers, doctors, politicians.”
