Biography

Dr. Joseph L. Cottone, Jr. is a Board Certified urologist that has been practicing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 2001. Dr. Cottone studied Biochemistry at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans in 1994. He completed a two year surgical residency and three year urologic residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he served as a Chief Resident. After residency he practiced with The Urology Center in Slidell, Louisiana for two years before making his home on the coast in South Mississippi. Dr. Cottone has published research in urinary incontinence and treatment of prostate cancer. He also has special interests in kidney stone disease and disorders of the bladder.

Dr. Cottone’s main practice is at the Regional Urology West campus in Gulfport where he sees patients age 18 and older and performs procedures in his office including no scalpel vasectomies, cystoscopies, urodynamics, prostate microwave thermotherapies, and prostate biopsies.
