Singing River Announces 3rd Annual What the Health? Connecting the Dots in Women’s Health Event & Keynote Speaker

Singing River Health System is pleased to announce Elizabeth Smart as their keynote speaker for its third What the Health? Connecting the Dots in Women’s Health event, set for Friday, January 28th at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi. This year will be the first time the event is open to the public.

Singing River’s What the Health? is not your mother’s typical health conference – as it brings together women from unique backgrounds, experiences, and lifestyles to discuss topics once considered taboo and learn how to make strides towards a healthier future for themselves, partners, and their entire families. The day begins with mimosas and mingling with exhibitors, then entertaining discussions with some of the Coast’s best physicians on various women’s health topics. Lastly, attendees will enjoy brunch while listening to the inspirational words of abduction survivor, news correspondent, and child safety activist Elizabeth Smart.

Founder and President of the SoSo Strong Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Jackson County District Attorney, Angel Myers McIlrath, will return as the event’s Emcee for the third year.

About the Keynote:

Elizabeth Smart’s abduction was one of the most followed child abduction cases of our time. Elizabeth was abducted from her bedroom window in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 5, 2002, her captors controlled her by threatening to kill her and her family if she tried to escape. Fortunately, the police safely returned Elizabeth to her family after being held prisoner for nine grueling months. Through this traumatic experience, Elizabeth has become an advocate for change related to child abduction, recovery programs, and National legislation. Triumphantly testifying before her captor and the world about the very private nightmare she suffered during her abduction, which led to conviction. Elizabeth’s story continues to motivate parents, law enforcement, and leaders worldwide to focus on children’s safety. She has released powerful and inspiring books about what it takes to overcome trauma, find the strength to move on, and reclaim one’s life. Elizabeth emphasizes vigilance by “everyday” people and the belief that hope always exists to find every missing child.
