Who We Are

At Singing River Health System, we believe healthy communities are built on genuine relationships. Our Community Relations Team works every day to strengthen the connection between our health system and the Mississippi Gulf Coast communities we proudly serve. With experience in community benefit, employee health, nonprofit leadership, civic engagement, and healthcare administration, we are neighbors, volunteers, and advocates deeply invested in this region.

Singing River’s Community Relations serves as a bridge between Singing River and the community — coordinating charitable assistance, outreach initiatives, community engagement, and civic partnerships. Our work extends beyond hospital walls to connect residents with resources, support education, and champion programs that improve health and save lives.

Blood Drives

Singing River Health System is dedicated to providing quality healthcare while serving our community’s medical needs. Our health system has a long-standing partnership with The Blood Center to meet all of our patients’ blood transfusion needs. This year, The Blood Center is expected to supply Singing River with over 6 thousand units of blood components. Blood donations have dwindled over the last few years leaving our supply very low. We need all the support we can get to ensure we are able to continue providing lifesaving blood products to our community.

Organ Donation

Organ donation is the ultimate act of generosity, and Singing River takes pride in our team’s unwavering dedication in supporting this vital cause.

We are a partner with Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) to help people waiting for a life-saving organ or tissue transplant as well as raise awareness about the importance of registering to become an organ donor.

Bone Marrow Donation

Singing River Health System partners with the National Marrow Donor Program to host bone marrow donor registration drives annually. Through this partnership, we aim to raise awareness about the need for bone marrow donors while helping eligible individuals become registered donors through a quick, painless cheek swab. Community members between the ages of 18 and 35 are eligible to join the National Marrow Donor Program.

Community Health Needs Assessment

Singing River Health System is comprised of Ocean Springs Hospital, Pascagoula Hospital, Singing River Gulfport and outlying facilities.

Singing River Health System’s community is defined as the geographical boundary of Jackson County and Harrison County, Mississippi. While there are residents of surrounding counties that utilize the services of Singing River Health System, our assessments and subsequent implementation strategies will be focused on Jackson County residents and Harrison County residents, respectively. Our findings indicate that 74% of our Jackson County hospital patient encounters and 76% of our Harrison County (Gulfport) hospital patient encounters were from residents of their respective counties.

Singing River Health System’s Community Health Needs Assessment represents a community-based approach to identify and analyze community health needs and assets in order to prioritize, plan, and act upon unmet community health needs.
