CT Scans

Singing River Health System provides High Definition/Low Dose CT scans for our patients. This technology enables our radiologists to see internal structures in the human body as small as a grain of sand in a single rotation.

About Our CT System

Discovery CT750 HD by GE

Singing River Health System’s Computed Tomography (CT) system provides exceptional image quality, providing our radiologist sharp detail for a confident diagnosis while reducing your exposure to radiation by 50% as compared to the previous generation of CT scanners.

The Gemstone Detector in the Discovery CT750 HD enables doctors to see internal structures in the human body as small as a grain of sand in a single rotation.

Singing River Health System is able to offer the following innovative procedures with the Discovery CT750 HD:

Coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA)

Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is a heart imaging test that helps determine if plaque buildup has narrowed the coronary arteries, the blood vessels that supply the heart. Plaque is made of various substances such as fat, cholesterol and calcium that deposit along the inner lining of the arteries.

The physicians can capture high definition images of the whole heart to assess coronary artery disease at radiation levels that can be less than the typical average annual background radiation exposure that everyone receives naturally.

Stroke assessment

Singing River Health System is a Certified Stroke Center with exceptional treatment times. One of the ways we are able to provide fast treatment is through accurate CT scans from the Discovery CT750 HD.

Time is brain matter. Once a stroke occurs, it is important for the physicians to quickly determine the cause of the stroke and begin treatment. The Discovery CT750 HD provides the equivalent coverage of up to 500 slices allowing physicians to perform 4D CTA neuro and vascular function studies to help determine the best course of treatment.

Low radiation CT scanning

ASIR is a new technological advancement in our Discovery CT750 HD which allows our radiologists reduce noise in CT images while also lowering radiation by up to 50% for examinations in patients of all ages.

Lowering patient radiation is important to all patients, especially children and return-patients getting a follow up scan.

The High Definition/Low Dose CT Scanner provides high-definition 3D images for our radiologists and low radiation for you – the quality of care you expect from Singing River Health System.

Low Dose CT Scans are commonly used to detect lung cancer. Experts recommend those who have a history of heavy smoking, currently smoke or have quit smoking within the past 15 years, and are between the ages of 55 and 80 years old be screened for lung cancer every year.

Singing River Health System’s Imaging Services are accredited in pediatric CT imaging by Image Gently. We are committed to imaging pediatric patients with appropriate radiation dose.
