Biography
Ijlal Babar, MD, FCCP, FAASM, is a board-certified pulmonologist specializing in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. Since joining Singing River Health System in 2003, he has helped expand advanced pulmonary care across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Dr. Babar earned his medical degree from Aga Khan University and completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Arizona, where he also served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. He is Medical Director of Singing River Pulmonary Critical Care and the Regional Pulmonary Hypertension Center.
A physician leader and researcher, Dr. Babar has been instrumental in developing advanced pulmonary services at Singing River, including pulmonary hypertension care, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), navigational and robotic bronchoscopy, and Zephyr valve therapy for severe emphysema. He has also helped expand clinical research and clinical trial opportunities, bringing innovative treatments to patients throughout the region.
