Nancy’s roots run deep along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Born and raised on the MS Gulf Coast, she graduated from St. Martin High School. After graduation, she attended and graduated South Alabama School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science (BSN) in 1995 and later earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from South Alabama as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) in 2006.
Nancy’s biggest inspiration to become a nurse came from her desire to serve her community and carry on the legacy her Aunt Thelma Ramsay began so many years ago. Her Aunt Thelma was a beacon of hope for the Latimer Community members in their times of need by always finding new ways to serve and bring them comfort. Many years ahead of her time, Aunt Thelma pioneered the role of the Nurse Practitioner from the 1950s to 1980’s. Nancy feels honored to have been able to carry on this tradition and serve the needs of her local community by opening her very own clinic in 2011 in Latimer. Due to an unfortunate turn of events, Nancy placed her clinic on hold in October 2017 to care for herself and regain her own health after being diagnosed with breast cancer. This time proved to be a vital learning experience and Nancy is excited to partner with Singing River Health System to continue her passion serving the healthcare needs of those in her community.
Early in her career, Nancy gained experience working in various hospitals and private practices: from Cardiac Services at Ocean Springs Hospital to becoming a travel nurse working in Washington, D. C. and Northern Virginia in a variety of specialties including Kidney Pancreas Transplant and Cardiac Services; then to The University of Kentucky working in Gastroenterology alongside a group of Physicians that specialized in research in Gastroenterology; then continuing her journey back on the MS Gulf Coast again at Gulfport Memorial Cardiac Services. In 2002, Nancy was sought out to work at Coast Cardiology Center developing a research department with Dr. Cyril Bethala and Dr. Bharat Sangani while she continued her educational advancement towards becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
Nancy’s experience in the healthcare industry is invaluable to delivering the best care to her patients. As a primary care nurse practitioner, she provides comprehensive care for ages 13 and up with a focus on wellness and preventive medicine. Services include but are not limited to treatment of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, common cold, sinus infections, etc. Lab services are offered in-clinic as well as routine annual physicals for employment, school, sports, health insurance, and MDOT requirements.
Nancy’s motto is “The key to success is following God’s guidance.”
After regaining her own health and overcoming her own battle with breast cancer, Nancy will continue to advocate for her patients. She is inspired to improve the health of those she serves by:
- Providing a safe, caring, and compassionate environment.
- Actively listening to patient concerns.
- Promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
- Rendering the most appropriate medical advice.
- Adhering to the belief that all persons by their creation are endowed with dignity.
She intends to honor our community and heritage through continued commitment to make a positive difference. She aims to faithfully serve God’s purposes to care for and love His people unconditionally.
